NewCar: Bentley Batur & Continental GT Speed

Bentley’s bespoke Batur makes its appearance in Dempsey Hill, its pioneering design language in direct reflection of the new Continental GT.
In collaboration with Cars ‘N’ Kopi on August 10, Bentley Singapore has come to grace excited Singaporeans with the presentation of the ultra-exclusive Batur, the company’s latest exclusive two-door grand touring coupe.
The car is led by the brand’s in-house coachbuilding division, Mulliner, whom named the project after Lake Batur – a crater lake located in Kintamani on Bali, Indonesia.

The significance of the Batur is leading future design language for the brand’s future models, specifically its impending range of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). Limited to 18 examples for the coupe and 16 for the convertible, the Batur is the bittersweet goodbye to the company’s 6-litre twin-turbocharged W12, the last Bentley to use it and now rated at its highest power output at 740 horsepower.
Internally, it will share its fundamentals with the Continental GT Speed, but the Batur features rear-biased torque vectoring for its all-wheel drive, 48-volt active anti-roll bars, electric limited-slip differential, and four-wheel steering.
This unit is the only Batur in Singapore, in right-hand drive configuration. It is also one of at least four Baturs in green of the 18 planned for production, matching in color to the new Continental GT Speed.

The Continental GT Speed however, will not be as limited as the Batur parked next to it. The Continental GT is in its fourth generation since 2024, with the Speed a faster variant of the normal Continental GT – a trim first introduced in 2007.
The new Continental GT features styling cues directly influenced by the adjacent Batur, with similar shapes and styling brought over from the ultra-exclusive coupe.

Gone is the option of the 6-litre W12 that will only be found in the Batur, now using a ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ powertrain – a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with a new hybrid powertrain producing 771 combined horsepower and 1,000Nm of torque. The electric motors by itself makes 140kW (187HP).
Bentley is keen to point out that the new Continental GT (and subsequently Speed) is an everyday supercar – allowing for 50 kilometres of range using only the electric motor and a combined range of 859 kilometres. From standstill to 100km/h is 3.1 seconds and top speed is 335km/h quoted.
No prices are officially quoted for either Singapore-bound coupes. The Continental GT may be configured on Bentley’s official websites and private bookings for aspiring buyers, while configuration and final price for the Batur is only for reserved buyers.
