The lovely Honda Super-ONE! Or at least, lovely on paper and disregarding the export prices.
The subsidy of the cost in Japan is extremely attractive, yes, but without this assistance in legislation in other markets that offer it – the United Kingdom (Super-N), Singapore or Australia – means its really steep.
I loved it when I first saw the Super-ONE at the Singapore Motorshow 2026. The price was steep even with the early bird pricing. Now, its higher than before. Not a mistake solely on the local distributor here but unfortunately it will be an extremely niche and hard sell almost like the current Prelude.
I hate to admit it. Honda, as much as they are trying and making good cars on paper, on track, on roads and 100,000 kilometres later, have been knocked hard by Chinese competition. Then again, every legacy manufacturer has been, be it their fault of pricing and quality increases and decreases, or being flat-out undercut despite their qualities.
Hybrids are what the Japanese can do, but its not enough for the countries that are pushing politically or economically on full electrics. The Japanese don’t do competitive EVs either. So prepare yourself for a very Chinese-leaning future.
As said, I love the Super-ONE, but the facts cannot be ignored anymore. Its dismal, but I don’t have one-fifth of a million SGD to support Honda and Kah Motor with the purchase of a SGDM unit.
