SG Archives: Mazda MX-5 (ND2)

One of the many to-be expiring Mazda MX-5 (ND)…
I believe by the time this is posted, the COE of this MX-5 would be due on the same day itself, or one day before.
In most circles, I think the scrapping of a sports car is a bit unheard of, but it happens, from NA to ND. These NDs have been reaching their first ten-year tenure, now subject to their first renewal in practically the worst time for any car to do so.
This Mazda going by badges is a Japanese-market Roadster in 2.0A spec, in Snowflake White Pearl Mica.
Some Japanese market units have a 1.5-litre capacity that if I recall may have qualified under Category A COE due to its power. These 2-litre cars are locked to Category B, although the current COE climate means the pricing for renewal between both is negligible.
Previously, it was on a bidded plate (SBR9393M) for around a day before switching to this SPD5172T plate number.

It was in my parking estate for at least a month before disappearing. Its on sale on Carousell at the moment awaiting a willing custodian for the next ten full years of its life – if it can find one.
Going by the photos, it had covered just under 70,000 kilometres in its ten years and is pretty original apart from what I assume are coilovers. It was great seeing another white convertible at the parking estate.
