Exploded the CV joint again in one hell of a remote location. The mosquitos will like my presence today.
Mountain fun turned mounting fuss with the breakage of the CV joint that was repaired close to a year ago.
My differential is an open type, and so the breakage of a single joint immobilized the vehicle when it broke as I was on power exiting a corner.
Stranded on the North-East side of Penang island is not a good location to break down in. Zero workshops and few civilization apart which are occasional durian stores means genuine help is far away, and network breakage when it happens doesn’t help.
The tow was RM310 and the repair of the repaired CV joint was RM220. It needed time to “seat” itself, which was really bad vibrations on every turn until it fizzled out and worked like, well, a CV joint. This CB joint had been repaired twice though as mentioned, and I wasn’t keen on it breaking again if it already did within 1,000 kilometres of driving.
The eventual replacement for both CV joints to AISIN units were RM320 each, labor RM250 with other items. I pray for my wallet.
