As Feriko is further restored into a more presentable and finely-equipped family saloon, I went ahead and ordered a bucket list item that has been under my radar for a few months.
The Gathers GZC-7108 is a very rare piece for the EG-generation Honda Civic – or as rare as original Honda audio equipment can get, since they normally get discarded for aftermarket speakers, headunits, subwoofers… you get the idea.

This CD changer seems to usually transact for around RM1,200 or 300USD, whether or not they work. This was listed on Shopee Malaysia and was surprisingly not bought out by anyone for the six or so months it was up for. At a discount down to around RM270, it was a planned yet impulse purchase.
The seller did inform me that it was untested and they couldn’t test, so as it stands, it is nothing more than a glorified paperweight. The seller did actually forget the surrounding housing when the item was shipped, much to my concern as it would be a rather important piece if I needed to install it! Thankfully, they were more than willing to ship the surround at their expense.

The next step to using this changer would be to find a headunit that may support the CD changer.
Provided was some brackets presumably for installation of the bracket, and the changer itself has the 9-pin DIN cable still intact. I know little about audio systems but I would assume that I may need to source a compatible CD reader and work from there!
Going by an old Yahoo Auctions listing, it seems that the brackets may not be the complete set. There appears to be a few extra pieces when cross-referencing provided equipment for another unit – which by the way is also optional equipment for the hatchback and not just the Ferio saloon.

So I am a little stumped about this information as missing hardware hasn’t been fun. But it will be future me’s problems when I choose to have it installed in the car. I am interested to bring it to a headunit shop that can restore the unit to working and cosmetic shape. Paperweight it’ll be for now.
