Elanmi: Two and twice the charm

2026 Labor Day allowed for the second time there is a ying and yang color combination of Elan M100s in Singapore…
At Cars ‘N’ Kopi, there tends to be a large number of low-number cars that will show up. Since the event’s inception in 2013, this has always been the case and will continue to be. The case for the M100 remain hardly élan in any case, where the model very rarely receives much attention from photographers then and now.
It is a largely unpopular classic cherished only by those who owned one or a poster of one on their bedroom wall in their teens. I still think that National Day two years ago was the first time in at least three years that an Elanmi even popped up in Cars ‘N’ Kopi, but I rest my case.

To update my knowledge, there are eight Elan M100s left in Singapore. Strictly not the rarest of the lot but the cars themselves rarely pop up in the first place. The red unit happens to be the only Calypso Red, and the white is one of two Monaco White remaining.
We first had this impromptu meet last year in a different event, and while we were previously heartily chatting away about our cars, we were both not present to find each other this time around.
This contrasting mix of colors is also a reminder that I should still be looking for a workshop to repair my original wheels. I’m not willing to spend some 800 euros minimum to buy another set – which doesn’t include shipping.
Still, some fruit for thought and refreshing to see another unit of the car I own. Given these are both rare and relatively underused (because they’re far better as weekend cars than dailies), spotting another is basically like finding a needle in a haystack, but you’ll realize when something pricks you.
