We had a website outage that lasted for four hours. Well, we have lots to learn about website hosting.
Over the course of several months, the website has been suffering random outages as reported by our plugin Jetpack, which has numerous additions for the backend, included but not limited to email notifications and statistics.
We just suffered our worst outage yet, four hours with manual intervention needed to reboot the website and multiple plugin changes. But it wasn’t just plugin problems we had.
Someone had tried to brute-force their way into our logins, which likely took the website down from too many requests. The site itself had general instability which we pointed at the Jetpack plugin thanks to similar posts with mirroring problems. Jetpack, while good-looking on the outside, apparently was creating instability that made CharadeSG slow to load.
So we now have a new analytics plugin to track how much people view the website. The numbers are semi-permanently gone, so its a restart and back to basics. Yes, it does matter to us (we like numbers), so please assist with nothing more than the usual support and interest – we aren’t looking for extra patronization, but it will always be appreciated when the time comes. Thank you.
