To date, we have approximately three posts for the Civic EK chassis that is being scrapped/exported or already done so. Whether that is coincidence is up to you, but we now have a hatchback looking to become just another parts car or a track toy for the right buyer.
The SiR as described before from older pieces are available in hatchback and saloon form, powered by a 1.6-litre B16A2 (or B16A4, Efini’s grave to dig on which is right) outputting around 160 horsepower, around twenty horsepower under the fabled 1.6-litre B16B found in the Civic Type R.
These were and are boy-racer cars that more often get modified for street and track use, which this unit is probably no stranger to extensive modifications. Some units hearsay undergo full Type R conversions that might include chassis-swaps, but you didn’t hear it as a fact – perhaps what Malaysian owners can more “freely” execute.
Anyhow, this particular EK4 SiR is being advertised for potential scrap – no clear indication but I don’t ask questions and you don’t either.
Sad time where we’re seeing more enthusiast cars get exported and scrapped because – who’s paying S$18,000 yearly or S$126,000 for COE?
