Mitsubishi culling in Singapore needs to be studied – like this one-of-two remaining Lancer turbos.

Like your doom and gloom as much as me? Let’s soldier on (or don’t) with the pop-up advertisement of this Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8A.
Sure, the CS-generation of Lancer in recent years have garnered a particular notoriety for silly mods, blastpipes and ownership as colorful as the paint and engine color combos of the zhng’d CS3s. But there is a substantially rarer wolf in sheep’s clothing of the CS body; its not an Evolution.
Other countries did receive this generation of Lancer with a 2-litre naturally-aspirated 4G63, but the most Cycle & Carriage offered was the 1.8-litre in automatic only – the CS5 chassis. Instead of a 1.6-litre 4G18 in the common CS3s, the CS5 makes use of a turbocharged 1.8-litre 4G93. Its a similar powertrain found in the old yet brisk Lancer turbos that don’t bear the homologation status but had enough pull to dust pesky Hondas.
Hearsay that back when the CS5 was released, it went head-to-head with a Nissan GT-R in the defunct stretch of Lim Chu Kang road and by complete miracle won. This unit won’t be winning the same.
As an 2006 model and it being 2026 with Category A and B prices mirroring at S$126,000, its up for scrap in private scrap groups. Definitely will be a Malaysian donor car for uncommon CS owners and common ‘Wiralution’ aspirers. It is one of two known to still be in existence – the other unit is a modified black unit that expires next year.
