Feriko: Honda Civic Ferio (EG8) Gathers speakerboard

Semi-iconic Honda speaker board for Feriko – complete with a sacrifice.
I did not necessarily “sacrifice” anyone for acquiring this board (I did my wallet), but this non-SiR speaker board had to be cut to fit…
Firstly, if you are buying one of these, expect the shipping to as painful as the purchase price itself. This came from Kuala Lumper, but the shipping up to Penang was some RM400 or so. The board is large and an unusual size, but what isn’t unusual is me getting swindled.
This particular set comes with a third-brake light that is sadly not the 1980s-galore “Ferio” tint. It does not light up green, even with an acrylic cut-out specifically created for the brake light.
As for the speaker pods themselves, a general wear point is the logo itself, which tends to warp and curve under direct heat. I am lucky that this set is still in relatively good condition, the set is unlucky that it is going to be installed in my car.
The inner speakers are part no. 08A54-SR3-A000-50, which is probably long discontinued.

The board itself is again intended for a non-SiR, or bundled as intended for a EG8 chassis. This is substantial as the SiR EG9 cars for the Japanese market is available standard with a motorized rear wiper. This wiper takes space where the fitting of the board would go, so original boards have a cut-out for the wiper.

The labor to switch out the rear board is very labor intensive. This includes full removal of the rear seat to be able to access and disassemble the rear board. Extra wiring was required for mine to include the third-brake light (because the spoiler was already the original TBL).
Part of this process was also finding out the “original” color of my car. The exterior is a generic white but some of the sill labeling was relatively intact. I never believed the paint codes on the sill were genuine, but the code on the sill, NH-561P was a grey shade that matches the chassis color.
Feriko is an original Phantom Grey Pearl unit. If the interior color code is to be believed, it is using variation Type D, one of four pre-facelift interior fabric combinations for the SiR.

For speaker quality, they sound like they play audio. But in truth, there is some bass and a step up over the previous board set that had one non-functioning speaker. Its definitely better now, and a surprise the original Gathers unit are still operable.

Of course, if anyone wants my old speaker board, let me know. I’d like to part with it to conserve space.
