SG Archives: Honda Civic SiR (EK4) saloon

This Singapore-market Honda Civic saloon seems to be living a second life in a neighbouring country.
With some of our scrolling and searching on marketplace, me and Efini found a very peculiar Honda Civic EK4. Listed as a real EK4, the listing was kind to show the evidence of that, displaying the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the car.
Based on previous checkings and the discovery of a very unique VIN type for the Singapore market Civic SiRs saloons, the VIN plate on this car matches the format of those once residing in Singapore.

Singapore is one of two known regions that use this Japanese-market VIN tag location in export market setting: the other region being Sri Lanka.
All other export variants of the performance B-series-powered EK4 saloons, always are using the firewall to mount their larger tag.

This car is evidently in very bad condition – clouded headlights, faded and dinged paint, mismatched door mirrors, Honda Del Sol front seats and hand-me-down Honda City alloys.
Still, it is a surviving unit of a facelifted Honda Civic SiR saloon – in Malaysia no less. This is a manual unit with sunroof, and again a facelift car, although all of the above could easily be converted. Given the kind of work that Malaysians do to convert their cars, you never know.
It is running a B-series still, but no confirmation of the engine block via any photos – the evidence primarily centered in the B16A – the original engine would have been a B16A4. It is running an Ogura clutch, presumably a Super Single Clutch.
Saved from the scrapper you could say, although the condition is hard to say whether it necessarily lived a peaceful life afterwards.
