Archival: Honda Stream MUGEN Catalog (Japan)

Another K-series-powered commuter, available with go-fast MUGEN styling!
The Honda Stream is yet another “dadmobile” that would grace the slightly more grown-up audience who had just finished playing with their Civics and Integras and wanted something cool (and three-rowed) to suit the aggro and bravado of their last car, but be able to sit three generations of family in one car.
The first generation shares majority of its underpinnings with the ES-generation Civic – not exactly famed for being as good as the EK-generation, but as a car is by no means bad. It came available with a 1.7-litre D17 engine for its lowest trim and highest with the more serious 2-litre K20A and eventually K20B, with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrains. There are manual options available, but limited only in very little markets.
At least now, the Stream is more fondly remembered for its second-generation, the RN6-RN8 chassis that was a much sleeker design than its predecessor, although both no longer available with a manual and K-series engine.
Even as such – just as a hint – a K24-swap is possible in that generation, and there’s a select few in Malaysia with one – watch out.
MUGEN had the parts for both JDM trims – the normal Stream and Stream Absolute. Unfortunately unlike the Odyssey Absolute (RB1), the Stream was absolutely not fast – a variant of the 1.7-litre until its pre-facelift in late 2003, where it did get the 2-litre K20B.
