Penang: Closure
Closure
Penang – 30/6/23 – Last day here. Cutting straight to the chase.
Drive out to a shopping mall with a relative to play Wangan.
Get stomped on by the locals.
A meal, get alerted that my iPod is actually finished with its battery replacement.
Going back to Penang – Runabouts “One shopping mall and a quick device repair job turned 4-5 day part sourcing inconvenience later”, that 4-5 day job came to pass, and the store that repaired the device managed to rush the job in time.
Problem? We had to be in the airport by 7. The time was reaching 5.
Rushing food was a necessity now.
Not so fast.
The underground carpark that we parked in suffered the mixture of a huge jam and gantry failure. This series of unlucky events costed a downtime of half an hour waiting for the mall to resurrect one of their only two gantries, and getting right out of the parking lot.
The second piece of misfortune came with a car so-conveniently breaking down mid-turn in a T-junction ahead of the parking exit.
On the highway, there wasn’t any better circumstance either. Seeing it was peak hour traffic, we naturally got caught in a pretty big jam, and it gave a preview of how bad circumstances were going to be looking to the right of the road.

iPod re-acquired, without a bloated battery this time.
Of course, our ordeal wasn’t done.
Waiting
Waiting.
WAITING.
We got back before 7. That wasn’t the airport we reached before 7.
Tough luck. We eventually still managed to reach and register 15 minutes past 7. So all in all, our circumstances wasn’t downright disastrous.
A Starbucks meal and more waiting later;
We’re off!
Back we now are.
Home awaits
